Meet Robert Hawthorne

Before Robert knew it, he was already past two decades into his marriage and standing at the threshold of his 70th birthday. For this special landmark year, his long-cherished desire was to shift into a quieter neighbourhood with his wife Angie, to experience a calm and serene retirement far from the rush and bustle of his earlier life. To his surprise, this simple wish would provet to be more challenging than he could imagine.

Strong Aspirations

Almost all boys growing up in Portland, including Robert, had strong dreams and ambitions from when they were very young. Even whilst still at school, Robert had realized that he wasn't interested in pursuing the standard career path others followed, and that the world of academia was not his calling.

Strong Aspirations

Robert chose a route that was unique - he decided to join the United States military. This wasn't a decision he made on whim. This path had been trod by his older brother, Michael, four years earlier, and was a decision much admired within their family - The Hawthornes. Yet, there was no way Robert could have predicted how dramatically this choice would transform his life's course.

A Life of Service

Due to the strong values instilled in him by his family, Robert always approached life with a sense of determination and discipline. These qualities were ones that guided him through the tough, challenging process of army training. By his early twenties, his dedication and hard work allowed him to climb the ranks and secure an esteemed position in the military. Soon, he found himself serving his country in the Vietnam War.

A Life of Service

For more than forty years, Robert selflessly dedicated himself to his service, showing courage, sacrifice, and steadfast loyalty to his nation. During these years, his personal life outside of his job also went through several transformative changes.

Falling in Love

During his travels, Robert crossed paths with a lady by the name of Angie and fell deeply in love. Having a relationship, even in the most favorable circumstances, is never a walk in the park, let alone accompanying the demands of Robert's profession. However, Robert was clear in his heart that he was prepared to do whatever it took to ensure their relationship survived and flourished.

Falling in Love

Robert and his beloved knew instantly these two were made for each other when they first crossed paths. It was not much longer before he got down on one knee and asked for her hand in marriage. Before they had even fully processed it all, the simple exchange of "I do's" had linked them in matrimony.
